Scams
The IRS has many ways to interact with you and provide you information. In addition to the website (irs.gov), they have mobile phone apps, You Tube videos, Twitter, and many other information sources. However, at the present time they do not initiate contact with a taxpayer by e-mail. If you receive an email that purports to be from the IRS and informing you of a missing tax return, rejected payment, or refund problem, it is a scam. The fraudulent sender is attempting to capture your personal information (SSN, address etc.). DO NOT OPEN OR RESPOND TO THESE.
